How it works

From one link to a
completed gradebook

InterviewU takes you from setting up a class to a roster of scored practice interviews in minutes. Here’s exactly how.

For professors

Setting up your first class

1

Create your account

Sign up free at interviewu.ai. No credit card required.

2

Create a class

Name your class, add your institution and semester, and pick the industry and role your students are training for. We pre-load a question set for that role.

3

Tune the assignment

Reorder questions, add your own custom questions, mark any as optional, set the passing threshold (default 4/10), and optionally set a deadline.

4

Share one link

Drop the class link into Canvas, Blackboard, or anywhere your students already look. Students verify with their school email — no separate accounts to create.

5

Students practice

Each student records spoken answers to every question. They get instant AI coaching feedback and can retry up to 3 times per question if they’re below the threshold.

6

Review the roster

Your dashboard shows every student’s completion status, per-question scores, and attempt counts, with flags for anyone who didn’t hit the threshold. Export it all to CSV for your gradebook.

For students

What to expect when you open the link

1

Open the class link

Click the link your professor shared and enter your school email.

2

Verify your email

We send a 6-digit code to your inbox. Enter it to start — no password or account needed.

3

Answer each question out loud

You’ll see each question on screen and hear it read aloud. You get 30 seconds to prepare, then 90 seconds to record your spoken answer.

4

Get instant coaching

Right after each answer, you get a score and specific coaching feedback. If you’re below the threshold, you can try again — up to 3 attempts per question.

5

Finish and get your summary

Once you’ve completed every question, you’ll get a summary of your scores and an email confirmation — plus a pointer to keep practicing if you want.

Tips for best results

Get the most from every practice round

For professors

  • Add a couple of custom questions specific to your program — students respond better to questions that feel relevant to their coursework
  • Set a deadline so the roster fills in steadily instead of all at once the night before
  • Check the roster for flagged students who didn’t hit the threshold after 3 attempts — they may need extra help

For students

  • Find a quiet space with good mic quality
  • Use the 30-second prep time to plan a specific example before you start recording
  • Coaching feedback tells you what to improve — use your retries to actually apply it
